Summer and Ally Have a Good Old Laugh About Human Nature

Having dogs in the office is an awesome privilege we have at The Guide Dogs Association. Or so I thought until I caught them doing what I thought was laughing at us humans and the things we just put down to human nature. I was having a meeting with two of my work colleagues about an event we’re holding shortly. Everything was going well until one of my colleagues asked me a question that I didn’t know, but should’ve known the answer to. I must have gone a bit red with embarrassment and rather than admit defeat I made something up. It was ludicrous. I felt terrible, but I looked over and saw our office dogs Summer and Ally looking at me with huge grins and I felt even more humiliated. I thought they were laughing at my mistake and cover up. Somehow though it made me feel better and I realised that making mistakes is just part of human nature.

Use Read Aloud Books in Your Family Time

The Makeup Artist Handbook, Gretchen Davis, Mindy Hall, Bcher fr ...As today’s society continues to progress from high tech to higher tech and more and more demands both in the corporate world and the private, where does the family fit in? There are some who are intent on bringing back some of the old traditions and fundamental practices in their lives, but to some that is almost impossible. However, if you have a family, and you want it to function in a healthy, happy way, you must make it a priority. You must find time in your busy schedule to put your family at the top.

One step to take toward accomplishing this is to set aside one night per week for family night. Plan it to be a weekly activity that cannot be overridden. Make it fun. Put to use some read aloud books, fun movies, board games, music, charades, or anything that your children would enjoy doing. And don’t just sit back and watch. You parents need to be an active part of it. You need to be the leaders. Encourage your kids to see it as important by seeing it that way yourselves. It will be a great bonding experience for the whole family and build memories that will last forever.
